This year’s Tokyo Olympic and Paralympic Games are really special to us – for several reasons. First of all – they take place a year later than actually planned. Secondly, they are hosted by the country where Bridgestone was founded. And thirdly, we are proud to be one of the Olympic and Paralympic partners! But that’s not everything!
Since 2018 we’re organizing the B-Olympic program for the employees of Bridgestone EMIA. Its main goal is to support the physical activity of employees and, at the same time, help foundations that support various causes. How does it work?
Every year, there is a goal set for employees – for example, this year it is 1,500,000 km. If we can achieve it together (and, so far, we have managed to do it every year and even the pandemic didn’t stop us), Bridgestone will donate funds to 14 foundations in Europe, India and South Africa dedicated to preventing cancer and supporting those affected.
Where did this choice come from? Unfortunately, cancer is a disease that affects all of us directly or indirectly at some point in our lives. However, promoting healthy habits (e.g. regular physical activity, healthy eating) can help prevent it.
To reach the 1,500,000 km goal, the participants record all their physical activities (eg. cycling, walking, running, swimming). And the fantastic thing is that although the name of the initiative includes the word “Olympic,” you don’t have to be in Olympic form to join the “competition”. Here every little step counts!
During the program there are organized challenges (to motivate us more!), webinars, meetings with Olympic champions and Bridgestone ambassadors, as well as workshops. It is worth mentioning that they focus not only on physical activities, but also on the broadly understood balance between private and professional life.
This year we still have 522 609 km to go (more or less literally!). Keep your fingers crossed for us!
